I couldn’t help but imagine this scene and sing to myself in my head while writing this page. Spinning around in circles on rolling hills, skirt twirling, holding my camera singing, “These are a few of my favorite thiiiiings!”
I put together this list of my favs because I’m often asked what I use to shoot with, what tools I’ve used to help myself lose weight, where I got this and that… So here it is! I’ve compiled it all in one place. I’m sure things will be added and taken away in the future, so be sure to check back often!
Canon Mark IV Dslr
After my camera and gear was stolen this year, with the help of donations and saving for months, I was able to upgrade to the Canon Mark IV DSLR. (Only because my previous model had recently been discontinued.) I am SO happy with this body and what I've been able to do with it. I did not purchase the “kit” that you often see offered online. That is because I typically use other lenses that do more for me and the style of photo I’m trying to achieve. These lenses will be listed below if you’re curious to know what they are and why I use them!
canon ef 50mm f/1.4
This is the lens I gravitate to the most! Its fixed, which means there is no “zoom”. You’re forced to move your body around the subject to find that perfect shot. It’s maximum aperture is f/1.4. This lets so much light pass through the lens which gives the photo that beautiful, airy, bright look. I typically use this lens for portraits! Because of the max aperture, we avoid flat images. And instead the photo gets that dreamy depth that we all love!
canon ef 85mm f/1.8
Next up, my new favorite lens! Gifted to me when I needed it most by my best friend and fellow photographer, Tylar Harrison! And she knows a good lens when she sees one. This is the Canon 85mm f/1.8. Similar to our last lens, this one still has a large aperture. Allowing it to let in a ton of light. Fixed at 85mm, this allows me to get a similar look to a 50mm without being too close to the subject. Think weddings! You want your couple to be able to feel intimate, have their quiet moments alone, all while feeling comfortable. And they won’t feel as comfortable with you intruding in their space. Making the couple, now a trio! So take a step back with this lens and capture those bright and happy moments!
Rokinon 14mm f/2.8-22
Ahhh! Landscapes, stars, and wide open angles! This the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 lens. This is your wide angle lens on a budget! Comparatively, the Canon 14mm f/2.8 retails for $2,099. This is definitely your adventuring lens. For beginners, there is a very small learning curve! It does not have an auto focus feature. But all you need is patience and practice to master it. With the aperture at f/2.8, it lets in enough light for your long exposure photos. And again, this is another lens fixed lens at 14mm. Wide enough to take a full shot of the Yosemite Valley like the photo below. Swoon!
So I had been on a mad hunt for the perfect camera bag for a long time. I was deep in the pages of Amazon when finding this gem. I wanted something that looked like an outdoorsy backpack. Not too sleek. But also not too, ‘I’m going to mingle with the bears on a two week backpacking trip so I need to look intense’ kind of backpack either. So this guy was perfect! So perfect in fact, that when the first one was stolen, I hunted it down and bought it again! At the base, there is enough room for my camera and all my lenses. Up top, there is space for extra batteries, flashes, my notebook and planner, charger… all the things! You can even slip your laptop down the back! Everything I was looking for. Especially when traveling and needing all my gear to be in one place.
The Rokinon Lens in action at taft point, yosemite!
I had to throw this Ebates button into the mix. If you’re a big online shopper like I am, go through this link and search your favorite stores! You earn cash back when you shop.
Sephora, Anthropologie, Lululemon, Target…
Seriously! All of my favorites!
How? When shopping through Ebates, they earn commission by referring you to those sites. And you get half of that commission. (via cash back)
I’m sorry… but that is a no brainer.

The Keto Diet: The Complete Guide
keto restaurant favorites
I can not stress the importance of these books! When I started the Keto “diet” I still wanted all of those yummy foods. Maybe I’m odd, but the thought of having broccoli and chicken 3 times a day wasn’t appealing to me. So to feel like I wasn’t on a “diet”, I used these books to learn how to cook the things I loved but the Keto way!
They have a little of everything. Elaborate meals and easy ones! Like parmesan crusted chicken nuggets!
fitbit charge 2 rose gold
A Fitbit or an Apple Watch? The great debate! Obviously, the Fitbit won in my case. It’s simple, so easy to use, and not bulky! I love that it counts your calories burned so accurately. I can set my workout to each activity I’m doing whether it be weightlifting, treadmill, or the elliptical… It recognized your heart rate and your cardio fitness improvements over time. This thing keeps me so motivated and it never leaves my wrist!
fitbit charge 2 replacement band w/ rosegold
Now, of course, we need to make this Fitbit even cuter. I constantly get compliments on my “watch”. Which is exactly how I wanted my Fitbit to look, like a watch! This band gets a little worn down too, and I love that. The original bands are great too, but I wanted mine to fit with every outfit and color.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
